Hope ~ Day 10

(Also, scroll down to see second post from yesterday that just was posted today.)

Wow another day has just flown by.

Still have a few sniffles and Mac has a cough but we are continuing on as if nothing is getting us down. We have such limited time left I don't want to waste a minute. Besides everyone is sick, nannies, kids etc.

We had a great day at preschool we did an under the water theme by MacLean's request. Then we had a snack time and I tried to get the kids to come and sit for a small story time. Well these kids aren't used to that kind of structure so it was a bit of a disaster. Oh well they are all new to preschool so it will take time.

We had a quiet lunch time and a great meal downstairs of rice, beans and cooked zucchini with some kind of meat I think it was bacon. I have been fine eating stuff here and haven't gotten sick yet, I have eaten raw veggies and I had some wonderful cherry tomatoes tonight. They were so good.

We did our usual lunch routine and headed over to the pool for about 2 and a half hours. Then back to hang out in the playrooms. Mac always goes to the nemo room and I go to bouncing bunnies.

This afternnoon I spent some time in the pooh bear room and in one of the pics I am holding a wee one who is only a few months old if that. She was left on Rob and Joyce's steps here at the Hope Foster home. So the parents must live in the wee village just next door to the home. The law says you must advertise for three months to see if they will come to get her. Each night the village leader does anouncements on a loud speaker of different things and he asks for the mother to come forward to get her. It was heartwrenching to hear that and be so close to an actual abandonment. We took a ride on the bikes through the village tonight with Katie and Rob and he told me this story.

Many of the workers at the home live in the village. It is very poor, I will take photos tomorrow it was too dark tonight. It is a small farming village, sheep, corn and other crops are taken care of. The houses are very simple and most people live a very simple life as well. Some of the pics of the wee ones especially the one in my arms and the one of the babies foot in my hand made me teary to think of my MacLean at this age.

Wow it is so special to hold those babies. Many of them blow kisses and bang on the windows when we walk by. They want to be hugged, loved, kissed and played with. Simple things that all of us need now and again. I am trying to give out as much love as I can. MacLean is doing her fair share as well. She has really matured and become such a big girl on this journey. I am so proud of her. I really feel like I have changed as well. It makes you really put life into perspective and to realize how blessed we are and how lucky we are to have places like Hope in the world.

Thanks for listening and have a great time. Keep the comments coming we really enjoy reading them. Love to all, see you soon. This time next week we will be flying home wow, Take care,
Shauna and MacLean xoxox
P.S. Mac is off playing and kissing the babies goodnight on her own. xo
P.S.S I have included some pics of the kitchen and dining area.
PSSS HAVING TROUBLE LOADING PICS WILL TRY AGAIN IN THE MORNING. SO SORRY FANS (Picture problem resolved. Lianne, the blog assistant.)

Now my 9-5 job is getting in the way of my posting - ha ha. I was on this morning before 5:30am and I guess I beat even Shauna to the punch.
Anyway, you brought tears to my eyes big time today - those beautiful faces!!! I just hope and pray that our little Quinn has had the benefit of such a great place as you are at now. I know you're giving all the kids your time and love, but it also looks like they are very well cared for by the staff there. Your whole blog just hit so close to home today - I'm still wiping away the tears;-)

Well, being in California I'll never be the first to post, but maybe I can be the last!
I'd love to know a little more about the Hope Foster Home, Shauna. Do the special needs children there get the operations they need (for example, the children with cleft palates), or is that normally something that happens after the children are adopted?
Your pictures are gorgeous, and I love that the cuties are learning English (even "mole"!). What an amazing experience being there and taking part in their daily lives.
Enjoy every minute.
Kim (good job, Lianne)

And I thought this would be my morning to get in and post early. I checked many times before 7:45 am but then had to get B ready for scrapbook camp and G ready for ENT app't so looks like I'm towards the rear of the commenting crew!
Shauna, each and every face you are able to post is soooo adorable--each and everyone look so happy and content. I love the shot of that sweet baby foot (I love those sorts of pics). Once again you have me wiping away the tears.
Thanks as always for the great daily updates. what will I read each morning with my coffee when it's time for you and Mac to journey home?
Glad to hear you aren't letting the cold and germs get you down.
Cheers, Steph
Good early showing this morning, Donna :-)
Super work Lianne on keeping us from emailing you, asking where our daily dosage of blog is! You could have a mini riot on your hands if we are unable to read our updates.

You blog-obsessed people are hilarious (says the most compulsive of all). ;-)

Shauna can expand more about Hope, but my understanding is that many of the children there have come from other orphanages and arrived at Hope specifically to receive their needed surgeries/treatment. Once they are well, they return to orphanages or foster care. To read in detail about ALL the work that Hope does, see their website at:

"See" you all tomorrow!
