Hope Day 5

Today was a quieter day. It is the 8th anniversary of MacLean and I being a family. She was a bit quiet and sad this morning but perked up for this afternoon.

We went over to see Katie after breakfast and watched a video with her and then went to see the kids. This is the highlight of our day as the kids are so excited when we come in. A one point we both went into different playrooms. We played with the kids until 11:15 and at 10am I forgot to go up to preschool and when I went into one of the rooms and all the toddlers were gone I said where are the kids and they pointed at me and looked up at the ceiling. That is when I remembered preschool. The nannies were laughing at us. We made it and got ready the kids were already playing.

After preschool I let Katie and MacLean play with play doh. then we went to the canteen for lunch I have included two pics of us eating. Mac usually eats rice, and I sometimes have beans, rice and some cucumbers. We are only eating with chopsticks and getting good at using them. Then after lunch I took the girls swimming for over two hours.

At about 2pm, I took the kids back to the preschool and I did scrapbooking and they played with play doh. Then we went to play with the kids again until 4:30pm then it was off ont he bike into Bei Wu. Yes I rode with MacLean on the back of the bike on the little seat. It was about a 15 min. bike ride and we went with Rose. We passed corn fields, and little huts, dogs and shops. MacLean asked me why they were staring at us. I said because I was a white "larger" woman with a red face and fair hair riding with a chinese kid. We got into the village and went and bought some snacks, and drinks. Then we walked down for Rose to get her photos from the shop. we saw lots of naked kids, half dressed kids and older people selling their "meat" and I use the term loosely by the roadside. Meat or whatever is sold on the stick quite a bit. We also saw one of the boys from the outreach program who came to preschool. Then we went back on the bike and had some noodles, crackers and sprite for dinner. I know not the healthiest but it is so hot I don't have a huge appetite. I am still sweating from the trip. Next time we will take our camera and Mac can photograph while I ride the bike.

Enjoy the photos from today. The fish pond and door are in Robin's house and they have three ponds by the front entrance in their home. It is so lovely.

Enjoy and chat with you later. I am off to find MacLean she is in one of the playrooms obviously very comfortable and I am happy she is so fine with it.

I continue to be amazed at your adventures, each day's recount is incredible. I laughed at your red-faced, fair-haired Caucasian woman riding a bike with a Chinese kid on the back. Would have loved to see the faces by the roadside!
And part of your duties are to scrapbook. I'm in!
I have to tell you, you've captured my daughter's attention. Brenna is most enthralled (sp?) and wants to volunteer too. You'll have to let me know how you went about this, when you come home of course.
MacLean, good for you going to the preschool all by yourself.
Looking forward to tomorrow morning's entry.

Did I beat you this morning Lianne?

Hi Shauna and MacLean,
What an adventure you two are having - Nana and I read every day and enjoy the pictures of the children so much.
We are off to Natick with Brooklyn in the morning (August 18th) and back on the 28th (we think).
Will continue to check your blog from there.
Love Mom and Dad, Nana and Papa.

Shauna,

MacLean looks like she was having a great time in the preschool. I'm looking forward to all the stories she will have to tell and write about in class!!
